Roshd fest to screen Abbas Kiarostami works

Abbas Kiarostami's works are to be screened at the 48th Roshd Int'l Film Festival in Iran.

A lineup of works by late-great Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami has been scheduled to be screened at the 48th Roshd International Film Festival in Iran.

The festival screening for a number of educational films directed by the internationally celebrated director will be followed up with discussion sessions with some experts and old friends of Kiarostami.

The selected titles include 'Breaktime' (1972), 'So Can I' (1975), 'Two Solutions for One Problem' (1975), 'The Colors' (1976), 'Toothache' (1980), 'First Graders' (1984), and 'Homework' (1989).

The director had made all the announced titles in cooperation with Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults.  

Kiarostami has won many awards including the Palme d'Or he snatched at the Cannes Festival in 1997 for his film ‘Taste of Cherry’.

The late writer-director has been widely hailed as a pioneer of the Iranian New Wave.

He is mostly known as a screenwriter, film editor, art director and producer as well as a poet, photographer, painter, illustrator, and graphic designer.

The filmmaker who passed away on July 4, 2016, following a heart attack at the age of 76, was honored at some 300 film events around the world.

Launched in 1963, the Roshd International Film Festival is the first and oldest global film event in Iran.

Holding such a festival, Iranian ministry of education is aimed to exchange education pictorial incidents globally.

The main objective of the event was to collect the latest educational products and also to find an innovative way for training and educating children and adolescents in the country.

The 48th edition of the festival is slated for November 16-23, 2018, at Felestin Cinema in the Iranian capital of Tehran.
